BCCS addresses disproportionality in discipline practices

Brooklyn Center Community Schools is addressing the disproportionality of African-American students who are suspended or disciplined, compared to their white peers.

"When we look at our data and statistics, it shows us that predominantly, far and away, that our African-American students make up about 45-percent of our population and yet they account for upwards of 85-percent of both our classroom referrals, as well as our out-of-school suspensions."
