New operations director hired

Mike JohnsonWhen did you start working in Brooklyn Center Community Schools?

I started today, Wednesday, August 11, 2021

What is your previous work experience?

I worked for 12 years as a Building Engineer at General Mills; 15 years as an Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds at Wayzata Public Schools and 2.5 years as a Program Director of Facilities at Robbinsdale Area Schools.

What education have you obtained and where?

I receive an associate's degree in drawing and design and history from Normandale College. I also received an associate's degree in guitar construction and repair from Red Wing College

Why are you interested in working with the BC community?

I believe I can make a difference for the better in the lives of BC students and staff. Working in operations, I feel I can improve so many lives, although it usually happens behind the scenes.

What do you do when you're not at work?

I'm a dad, guitar player, guitar builder and fisher. I work on a wide range of art projects, any and all home remodel projects and I am a professional pumpkin craver (yes, this is a thing).

Anything else we should know about you?
My daughter, who's 23, is working on her PhD in chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I'm so proud of her!
