Former Superintendent Mark Bonine to fill Dr. Baker’s leave of absence
Monday, July 19, 2021 – Superintendent Dr. Carly Baker will be taking a 10-week leave of absence starting August 9, 2021. The BCCS School Board approved an interim superintendent contract for former superintendent Mark Bonine during Dr. Baker’s leave of absence, from August 9 – October 15. Dr. Baker is taking a leave of absence to welcome her first child in August.
“Mark will continue to steer the Centaur ship and will start to get reacquainted with BC throughout the next few weeks before my leave,” Dr. Baker said. “I am grateful to have his support personally and professionally. Our community is in good hands while I welcome a new member to my family.”
Bonine will begin a transition to the interim superintendent role throughout July. District leaders, including cabinet members, principals and other site leads, will report to Bonine during Dr. Baker’s leave.
“I am excited to return to my former home as Lead Centaur,” Bonine said. “Brooklyn Center was my home for five years and I look forward to meeting new faces and getting to work with my former colleagues and the community.”
