Brooklyn Center Community Schools has been recognized as 2020-2021 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished District for providing broad access to transformative opportunities for students through its PLTW programs. It is one of just 17 districts across the U.S. to receive this honor. In addition, BCE, BCMS, and BCHS were each recognized as distinguished schools.
“It is a great honor to recognize Brooklyn Center Community Schools for their unwavering commitment to provide students with an excellent educational experience despite the unusual circumstances and unique challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic presented to the educational landscape this past year,” said Dr. Vince Bertram, President and CEO of PLTW. “They should be very proud of their achievements in unlocking their students’ potential and equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in life beyond the classroom no matter what career path they choose.”
BCCS will be also expanding PLTW programming to Pre-K students for the first time starting fall 2021. This STEAM programming will be specially designed for 3- and 4-year-olds to engage with concepts like computer science, computational thinking, engineering, arts, and more.
