Facilities renovations at Middle and High School bring positive changes for students
March 5, 2020 - The renovations at Brooklyn Center Middle and High School STEAM will result in separated learning spaces with students in grades 6-8 located in the west wing of the building and students in grades 9-12 located in the north wing.
The middle school wing has been completed and the learning spaces have been used by students and staff since the start of this school year. In addition, there is a new and separate commons space for middle school students located in the west wing.
“The changes in the building are making a tremendous difference for our students,” said Josh Fraser, principal of Brooklyn Center Middle and High School. “By locating middle school students in a separate wing of the building, we can focus on providing learning and community building opportunities specifically for our middle school students.”
Middle and high school students will continue to use the same cafeteria and gym, but at different times in their schedules. The middle and high school campus will continue to be on the same bell schedule when high school students move back in the building in fall 2020.
The north wing is currently being remodeled and will be completed in late spring. High school students and staff will remain at south campus through the 2019-2020 school year and will move into the north wing in summer 2020.
