Deirdra Yarbro selected as next director of special services
Deirdra Yarbro has been selected as the next director of special services. Yarbo will start her new position on Monday, September 30. Yarbo was most recently a learning supports manager in Bloomington Public Schools.
“Deirdra’s background as a school social worker and her experience supporting students receiving special services will greatly benefit our students and families,” said superintendent Dr. Carly Baker.
Before she served in the learning supports manager role, Yarbro was a special education coordinator and school social worker. Yarbro has received an education specialist license from Minnesota State University Mankato, a M.A. in social work from the University of North Dakota, and a B.A. in psychology from the University of North Dakota.
“I'm inspired by knowing that when we come together as a community, we are best able to support our students fully, and then that we are able to ensure our students have access to the opportunities and educational experiences they deserve,” Yarbro said. “I’m very excited to be part of Brooklyn Center and I look forward to being part of the full-service community schools model!”
When she’s not at work, Yarbro enjoys watching movies and TV shows and spending time with her two kids and two dogs.
