Class of 2019 – Chimeng Yang

Chimeng Yang What is your favorite memory from your high school education?

My favorite high school memory was in sophomore year. During that year we had the first ever Hmong Exhibit at BHCS. Many Hmong students of BCHS took part in this event. It took months to plan this event, from visiting the History Museum when they had their own Hmong exhibit to visiting other Hmong schools in the cities for ideas. We decorated the commons area with a Hmong theme. There were performers, visual arts, artifacts, and food during the event. I enjoyed this event very much because of the culture awareness that was told through it.

What advice would you give someone just starting high school?

My advice for freshman is to take it seriously from the beginning. One doesn't want to regret their decisions as a freshmen when they're seniors when it comes to deciding which college to go to or even class ranks. Everything one does as a freshman will affect how they are as a senior. That's my advice to them.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan on going to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and studying in Environmental Science. I plan on becoming an environmental engineer or somewhere with the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife.
