Why do you stand front and center? The media center at Earle Brown is a hub of learning and literacy development. More than 700 students visit the media center with their classes every week for read-alouds, research and to check out books. When they walk through the doors, to the smell of 11,000 books, I strive to make resources accessible and for all students to have a positive and engaging experience. Helping young people develop as readers and become lifelong learners is at the heart of my 'why'. It's why I became an English teacher and continue to study education and Library Media.
Why do you love being a Centaur? Our community and our students are AMAZING! Every day I have the privilege and the opportunity to hook kids on books and reading. I have a very important job, one I take very seriously. The Centaurs are going places and I'm glad I get to help at the beginning of the journey!
What is your favorite memory from this school year? Earlier this year, we held a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) family night, along with a Scholastic Book Fair. The whole building was abuzz with excitement! It was so great to meet so many parents, grandparents and curious students outside of the regular school day. We have a strong learning community!
