Leadership changes at Earle Brown Elementary STEAM
December 6, 2018 – Randy Koch is retiring from his position as principal of Earle Brown Elementary STEAM. His last day as principal will be on January 1, 2019. Jeff Wilson, assistant principal of EBE, will be the interim principal. The position for assistant principal was posted to our website on Tuesday morning.
“Randy has laid a lot of excellent groundwork to help improve the culture at Earle Brown,” said superintendent Dr. Carly Baker. “He has turned the ship and I thank him for all of the work he has done to make Earle Brown a place staff and students want to come to every day.”
Wilson was a principal in the Hinkley School District for six years. He has also served as an administrator in Renville County West Schools and Anoka Hennepin Schools. Wilson started his career at Dayton’s Bluff Elementary in St. Paul Public Schools.
“I am confident Jeff will continue the progress we’ve seen at Earle Brown this school year,” Baker said. “Jeff has shown a commitment to knowing our families and a passion for helping each student find success in our school community.”
Koch has been the principal since June and decided to retire from his position for personal reasons. Koch said he feels confident in the abilities of Wilson and Penny Dupris, assistant principal of EBE, to continue the work of improving the building culture.
“When I watch our leadership team in action, I am amazed by what they can accomplish,” Koch said. “I have come to realize that it is time to pass the torch on to someone else.”
Koch took a position with the Northwest Suburban Integration School District as a magnet schools coordinator. The position will allow him to facilitate the work of the federal magnet schools grant the district received earlier this fall. Koch said he’s also looking forward to spend more time with his grandchildren and family.
EBE families are invited to attend a listening session with Dr. Baker and Wilson on Monday, December 17 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the media center at EBE. More information about Wilson and his vision for the school will be shared next week.
Jeff Wilson will start as interim principal of Earle Brown Elementary STEAM on January 2, 2019.
