Mask Mandate Lifted on Monday, April 11, 2022

April 8, 2022

Dear BC Community,

Thank you for your support as we have continued to navigate through the second year of the pandemic. As you know, our response to the changing dynamics of the pandemic has been and will continue to be grounded in data and responsible decision making to best serve our students, staff, and community. This data has begun to shift and has allowed us the opportunity to update our pandemic mitigation strategies.

District leadership has been examining COVID-19 case rates and district-wide data. After our return from spring break last week, case rates have been trending down at two cases in total. I am excited to announce that Brooklyn Center Community School’s district-wide mask mandate will be lifted this weekend. Starting Monday, April 11, 2022, masks will be recommended but not required while on district property.

As a reminder, we will continue to use targeted mitigation measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. There may be circumstances that still require wearing a mask, such as any  person (vaccinated or not) who has had close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.  If a person tests positive and returns to school/work after day 5, a mask is required until day 10.

We are excited to see your child’s smiling face in our classrooms once again!

Sincerely,

Dr. Carly Baker, Superintendent
