School Board election is on Tuesday, November 6

September 7, 2018 – On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, voters will elect three residents to serve on the six-member School Board of Brooklyn Center Community Schools. Each seat will be for a four-year term beginning January 2019.  

These seats are currently held by Cheryl Jechorek, John Solomon and Jan Thielsen. Jechorek and Solomon filed for re-election. Benjamin Wokonsommers also filed an affidavit of candidacy. Please note: John Bartee III filed an affidavit of candidacy but is no longer running for a school board seat. 

The North Hennepin Area Chamber and The League of Women Voters are co-sponsoring a Candidate Forum, intended to stimulate voter interest, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 7:45 -8:45 p.m. at Brooklyn Center City Hall Council Chambers, 6301 Shingle Creek Pkwy, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430.

Please take some time to research the candidates, attend this Candidate Forum, and get out to vote. Elections like this are rare, but the results are very important to all of us citizens in the North Hennepin area. Please take a moment to share this message with your employees, partners, and fellow citizens.
