Tuesday, June 16, 2020 – Two leaders will be reassigned to different buildings for the 2020-2021 school year. Starting on July 1, 2020, Nasreen Fynewever, currently assistant principal at Brooklyn Center Middle and High School, will serve as an assistant principal at Earle Brown Elementary. Penny Dupris, currently an assistant principal at Earle Brown Elementary, will move to the middle and high school as an assistant principal.
“Nasreen and Penny are both valued leaders of our organization,” said Dr. Carly Baker, superintendent of Brooklyn Center Community Schools. “I am confident they will help their new buildings bring about the drastic change we’re committed to creating for the upcoming school year.”
Before being hired as an assistant principal in July 2019, Fynewever served as dean at the high school. Prior to working in BCCS, Fynewever taught for seven years in schools in Michigan and Minnesota. She was also a director of a grant-based community educational initiative, an equity intervention specialist at Irondale High School, and a creative writing and college seminar teacher at Mounds View High School.
Dupris was hired as an assistant principal at the elementary school in August 2018. Before that, she served as an interim assistant principal at St. Louis Park High School. She was also an elementary school teacher in St. Louis Park Schools. Throughout her career, Dupris has dedicated her time to creating equitable communities for students of color.
