What is the superintendent's Youth Advisory (SYA) Council?

This is a student leadership opportunity for students grades 4-12 to provide feedback to the student board representatives, district administration, and school board. These meetings allow students to share their opinions about school, district programs, and tell us ways they think we can better serve our students.

Youth Advisory Council Time Commitment: On the following dates, students in grades 4-5 will attend from 10am-12pm. Students in grades 6-12 will attend from 11am-1pm.

  • Monday, October 27
  • Monday, November 24
  • Monday, January 26
  • Monday, February 23
  • Monday, April 27

These meetings are held at the District Office. Transportation is provided to BCE, BCS, and ECA students. A virtual option is available for Insight students to join us! Lunch is provided to all in-person participants.

SYA'S Projects & meetings

  • In October, we spent time onboarding our new members and building relationships with each other. We also spent time connecting older student with younger student to provide leadership connections and partnership.
  • At our upcoming meeting, we will assess the snack needs of BCE classrooms, learn about the district wellness policy and nutritional standards so we can begin this year's project.
