Class of 2025: Sia Conwell

What is your first and last name?

Sia Conwell

Which school do you attend?

Early College Academy

What groups, activities or sports have you been involved in throughout your high school career?

I have been involved with Theater production and Student Union throughout my high school career.

What is your favorite memory from high school?

My favorite memory from high school is Freshman Year when I "attempted" to audition for the school's Theater production and I realized that being on the stage was not for me whatsoever. I completely embarrassed myself but it was worth the shot.

Is there a staff member who has gone beyond for you? If so, who? How have they gone beyond?

Yes there is a staff member that has gone over and beyond for me. Ms. Gabby or Ms. Saygbe. She has been really supportive and caring towards me ever since she came to Early College Academy. She always checks on me and always makes sure that I'm good regardless of any day. Even if she's not having an okay day she always made sure that her students were right and I love her for that. She is a really good teacher and we need more like her.

As Centaurs, we stand front and center. What do you stand front and center for?

I stand front and center for respect always. Respect is something that should be earned, and if that means putting your foot down to have it, so be it.

What does it mean to you to be a Centaur?

I feel being a Centaur is being open and empathetic with those who may not always feel their best, never turning a blind eye on someone, and always having genuine respect for everyone.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plan after graduation is to take a gap year and find myself outside of a school setting and actually tap into adulthood which I'm ready for. There will be bumps and bruises along the way, but when you are confident in what you want in your life, nothing is gonna stop you PERIOD.

What advice would you give someone just starting high school?

The advice I would give to someone just starting high school is to have realistic standards. And personally I didn't have that. I thought my high school experience was gonna be sunshine and rainbows but I was completely wrong. You don't need every friend in the world. You don't need a partner by your side to define who you are. You don't need to try to prove yourself to please a group of people. Be yourself to your fullest extent and the people that love you will come around.
