What is your favorite memory from high school?
My favorite memory would have to be going to a fully paid for college visit down in Georgia to visit HBCUs.
Is there a staff member who has gone beyond for you? If so, who? How have they gone beyond?
Mrs. Hayden and Ms. Choua have been helping me since my freshman year. They have both been a great support group, more importantly, during my senior year. Helping me write my Common App essay over the summer. They have helped me appeal my financial aid offers, and just always given me a room to be in. I would say the CCRC is my second home.
As Centaurs, we stand front and center. What do you stand front and center for?
Being a Centaur means standing front and center as a source of support and advocacy for others. I strive to empower people to use their voices and be part of positive change. By being approachable and compassionate, I create a space where others feel comfortable opening up and sharing their thoughts and feelings. It means a lot to me when others see me as someone they can trust and rely on in times of need.
What does it mean to you to be a Centaur?
To me, being a Centaur means embodying the spirit of our school and community with determination, passion, and resilience. It means being respectful and headstrong, and knowing that no matter what.
What are your plans after graduation?
After high school, I plan on going to a four-year college to major in Sociology on the pre-law track.
What advice would you give someone just starting high school?
I would say take your grades seriously. Join as many clubs, volunteer, and be very involved with your community and school. To make the best out of it.
Christin is also an R&D Healthcare IT intern at Medtronic through the Genesys Works program, and will expand that internship into the legal department over the summer. “Since having this internship, I have been able to advocate for myself and meet new people. I have been able to talk with my supervisor about what I want out of my internship, such as working with the legal team,” she shared.
She encourages others to join Genesys Works when they reach high school. “It is a great program to get your feet in the door when it comes to navigation in the corporate world.”
