Subject: Afterschool Activities Canceled & Friday Programming Closed Due to Dangerously Cold Temperatures

Dear BCCS Families,

Based on the national weather service forecasting, Hennepin County is predicted to have wind chills up to -40 degrees Thursday evening and Friday.

Due to this extremely cold weather, today’s afterschool activities and out-of school programming will be closed. This includes the following:

  • After-school STEP and LEAP will be closed.
  • All athletic practices will be canceled.
  • Athletic events will be rescheduled
  • BCE’s WinterFest will be postponed. A new date will be shared in the coming weeks.

Friday is a non-school day for BCCS to complete our teacher recording keeping day. Due to the extremely cold weather, Centaur Plus, Centaur Beginnings, out of school programming, and all athletics will also be closed on Friday, January 23.

This extreme cold warning lasts through Saturday and has the potential to cause frostbite within a few minutes of being outside. Please stay warm and plan to return to normal child care programming on Monday, January 26 unless notified otherwise.

Sincerely,

Dr. Carly Baker, Superintendent
