    Commencement Ceremony

     

    We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2023! This ceremony will be a shared ceremony including all students who are eligible to graduate from Brooklyn Center Secondary (BCS), the Early College Academy (ECA), and Insight Online.




    Schedule of Events: Friday, June 9, 2023

    • 1:15pm - All graduates are invited to Brooklyn Center Heritage Center for a Commencement Ceremony rehearsal.

    • 1:30 - 3:00pm - Commencement Ceremony rehearsal in the main hall.

    • 3:00pm - Students will pick up their boxed lunches and exit the building. Any graduates who have not received their cap, gown, or tickets before Friday, June 9 will be able to pick them up at this time.

    • 4:45 - 5:00pm - All graduates return to the Brooklyn Center Heritage Center.

    • 5:30pm - Doors will open to visitors. Families will follow signage from the parking lot to the entrance doors and present their tickets to a staff member. 

    • 6:00pm - Commencement Ceremony begins.

    • 8:00pm - Seniors will pick up their diplomas after the ceremony.

    Commencement Ceremony Slideshow

    All BCS and ECA graduates are invited to get their photo taken at the Class of 2023 photobooth next week. While this is not mandatory, we encourage all students to stop by the photobooth during the noted times below with your friends so your photo can be highlighted in the ceremony. Insight students are invited to submit a photo of themselves for the slideshow. Please see your email for details and deadlines.

     

    Cap, Gown, and Ticket Pick Up

    • BCS students will be picking up their caps, gowns, and tickets from May 24 -  June 2 with their front office staff. If you have additional questions, please contact your principal or front office staff.

    • ECA students will be picking up their caps, gowns, and tickets from Mrs. Portillo and Ms. Joyce at the annual ECA Senior Dinner on Thursday, June 1.

    • Insight Online students who will be attending the in-person commencement ceremony can schedule a time to pick up their caps, gowns, and tickets between May 25 - June 2. To schedule your pickup, please contact Samantha Etim, ISMN Guidance Counselor, at setim@bccs286.org

    • Any graduates who have not received their cap, gown, or tickets before Friday, June 9 will be able to pick them up at the ceremony rehearsal.

     

    Diploma Pick Up

    • Starting this year, graduates will walk across the stage during the ceremony and receive their diploma holder. After the ceremony concludes, graduates will be ushered to the staging area to pick up their personalized diplomas. Diplomas will be arranged by school site and alphabetized by last name. Graduates should find their last name letterline and will be handed their personalized diploma by a staff member.

     

    Parking at The Brooklyn Center Heritage Center

    • The Brooklyn Center Heritage Center has ample free parking for families. If all the spots in the main parking lot are filled, you will find additional overflow parking across the street. Signage will be posted to assist with navigating the parking lot.
