School Board Elections Coming Soon: Filing Period is August 2 - 16, 2022!

  • Are you thinking about serving your community by running for the Brooklyn Center Community Schools Board? 

    The Brooklyn Center Community Schools Board of Education is a group of six elected officials that oversee the general management of the school district and hold the superintendent and other administrators accountable for achieving strategic goals. Serving on your local school board is a great way to support and advance the education of the children in your community.

     

    How many seats are up for election?

    Residents of District #286 will have the opportunity to vote for three (3) school board members during the November 8, 2022 General Election. Each member is elected to serve a 4-year term. There is also a special election to fill a partial term for one (1) school board member who will serve the remaining 2 years of a term. 

     

    Who is eligible to run for school board?

    Any person is eligible to run for the school board if they meet the following criteria:

    • At least 21 years old
    • Is an eligible voter
    • Has been a district resident for at least 30 days prior to election/appointment
    • Has not been convicted of a felony

     

    How can you become a candidate?

    Candidate information packets are available now. The packet includes relevant documents about running for school board and may be obtained from the Brooklyn Center Community Schools’ District Office at 6300 Shingle Creek Parkway (Suite 286), Brooklyn Center.

    The candidate filing period is August 2 to 16, 2022. Candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy with the school district administrative assistant. The fee is $2.
