Date of Notice: Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 4 p.m.

This is a notice that the Department of Operations and its affiliates will be spraying 2DQ herbicide and Merit Insecticide on all BCCS athletic fields on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

These chemicals will be sprayed at the following locations:

• Brooklyn Center Elementary School’s athletic fields and grass (1500 59th Avenue North, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430)
• Brooklyn Center Middle and High School’s athletic fields, practice fields, and grass (6500 Humboldt Ave. North, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430)

You will see signs posted around the school grounds once these have been sprayed. These spaces will be ready for use again once the spray has thoroughly dried (approximately 24 hours).

Minnesota state law requires schools to inform parents and guardians if they apply certain pesticides on school property. Specifically, this law requires schools that apply these pesticides to maintain an estimated schedule of pesticide applications and to make the schedule available to parents and guardians for review or copying at each school office.

State law also requires that people be told that the long-term health effects on children from the application of such pesticides, or the class of chemicals to which they belong, may not be fully understood.
