Brooklyn Center Community Schools to launch three new tools for families
This fall, families will be able to stay connected through two new communication tools and one technology system. We will be launching our first mobile app, a new notification system, and a new school pay system.
Last school year, the district tested its notification system, which is the system used to send calls and emails to families. After the test, and all of the winter weather-related school closings, we learned that our notification system was not operating correctly for all families. Starting this fall, the district will launch a new notification system so families receive more accurate and timely communication. With the new system, families will be automatically enrolled to receive text messages. Look for more information about the system after school starts.
The district is also launching its first mobile app. Through the mobile app, families will be able to check their student’s grades, monitor attendance, add school meal balances, and stay up to date with the latest news and information. Families will also be able to opt-in to receive push notifications through the mobile app.
SchoolPay will also launch this fall and will be used to pay for school meal balances, athletics and activities, field trips, and other school-related expenses.
More information about the new systems will be shared with families this fall and at open houses. If you have any questions, please contact Tara Drey, communications director, at 763-450-3387 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
How can families expect to be communicated with this school year?
Throughout the school year, families can expect to receive regular communication from their school and the district through phone calls and voicemails; emails; text messages; push notifications through the mobile app; and mailed items. If you need to make changes to how you’re contacted, please contact your child’s school.
Brooklyn Center Community Schools uses ParentVue as way to offer families secure and private access to student and school information. Families can easily keep track of grades on assignments, term grades, attendance, behavior, school meal balance and more.
When families download the BCCS mobile app, they will be able to see information from ParentVue for each of their students. Please make sure you have signed up for ParentVue if you would like to view your student’s information in the BCCS mobile app.
