About Early Learning in BCCS

Preschool family
  • Some of the most important learning in a child’s life starts before kindergarten. In Brooklyn Center Community Schools, we recognize the importance of early learning and offer several programs from birth to five. We see ourselves as partners in your child’s lifelong journey of learning.

Early Childhood Screening: Minnesota law requires that your child must be screened for enrollment in a public school. This service is offered at no cost to our families. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to find out how your child is developing and for you to find out more about resources and programs in our community. Children may be screened between the ages of three-five. The ideal age for screening is near your child’s fourth birthday. Click here to learn more about screening and to schedule an appointment.

ECFE Classes: ECFE is an early childhood and parent education program for children ages birth to five and their families. We believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teacher, and offer many ways for you to learn together. Classes are located at the Community Corner. 3-year-old Half-Day Preschool: We offer a half day program of preschool for 3 year olds. Students discover the world around them through fun, hands-on activities. Click here to learn more about our half-day preschool and to register.

4-year-old Full-Day Pre-K: 4 year olds have the opportunity to attend all-day Pre-K. Located at Earle Brown Elementary, students work on name writing, letter identification, letter sounds, rhyming, alliteration and Concepts About Print (CAP skills). Click here to learn more about our full-day Pre-K program and to register.
