About Brooklyn Center Middle and High School STEAM
Welcome to Brooklyn Center Middle and High School STEAM! We are a grades 6-12 secondary school that welcomes all. Our small size allows students and staff to build relationships. Our rigorous learning opportunities and high expectations help prepare students for a lifetime of success.
The BCS community represents the diversity of our global society. We embrace what our students bring to our community and honor their intrinsic value. As a STEAM magnet school, we offer courses in biomedical science, including Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, Coding, Engineering and Robotics. By incorporating the arts, each student finds their unique learning identity and path to college and career success.
As an educational organization, we are constantly learning and growing. To help us grow, our staff receive training in Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Practices to implement in each classroom. To continue our equity development, we are adding a component that helps us reflect on our implicit bias and how it impacts our students’ learning.
VABBing stands for validating and affirming, building on strengths and bridging to academic success. VABBing helps us celebrate our diversity and the unique strengths that each student and family member bring to our community. We want every student and family to bring who they are without taking away who they are.
Vision and Focus: 212°
“At 211°, water is hot. At 212°, it boils. And with boiling water, comes steam. And steam can power a locomotive. It’s time to turn up the heat. From this day forward, commit to operating at 212° in everything you do.”
– Sam Parker and Mac Anderson
At Brooklyn Center Middle and High School STEAM, we will use the 1 extra degree to power us so each student finds success.
